Letter from Earl Kaplan
My name is Earl Kaplan, and I would like to introduce you to my new company, Imagine Nation Books, one of the fastest growing companies in the United States. We have worked hard, and we believe successfully, to make our corporate book fairs fresh, exciting and increasingly attractive to our customers. Over the past six months, our book fair sponsors have had record-breaking fairs, with record-breaking rebate checks. Instead of purchasing a few small items from a selection of stale merchandise, employees are now walking away with armfuls of books and gifts, and they are raving about our exciting product selection. I am not surprised by these results, because Imagine Nation knows what it takes to have a successful book fair.
I started Books Are Fun in 1991, and some might say I originated corporate book fairs. From 1994-1999, my business prided itself on bringing the very best products available directly to corporate employees, in the convenience of their workplace, at huge retail discounts (generally between 40-75%). In 1999, I sold my business to Reader’s Digest in order to spend more time with my children and take a much needed break from business.
At the urging of people in the publishing industry whom I’ve known for years and a number of sales reps, I started my new business at the end of 2004, after my covenant not to compete expired. I am excited to be back in the business. This past year, Imagine Nation Books did almost $26 million in sales in just ten months, and this year we expect to have sales of approximately $80 million. With the addition of over 100 experienced corporate book fair reps, it is possible that, after just one year in business, Imagine Nation might have the largest corporate book fair business in the United States. IT Team
Our IT department works tirelessly serving the 100+ employees at the Boulder Headquarters in addition to the 350+ managers and reps around the country. The IT department is available to employees and reps for assistance over 100 hours per week and all 7 days.
Accounting Team
Accounting ensures accurate and timely operation of the financial aspects of the business and is overseen by CFO James Walker. The Sales Accounting team is dedicated to supporting the sales reps through processing of weekly sales reports. The Accounts Payable team works closely with our vendors to ensure timely payment for goods received. The General Accounting group provides financial controls and accurate reporting of business results.
